PICU NICU Update 2026 Strengthening Airway Management Knowledge and Skills

Jakarta, July 10, 2026 – Advances in medical technology continue to bring about various innovations that support improved patient safety, particularly in neonatal and pediatric intensive care. In line with these efforts, the 17th Indonesian PICU NICU Update in Conjunction with the 3rd Integrated PIT PERPEDSI & Exhibition serves as a scientific forum for healthcare professionals to update their knowledge, exchange experiences, and learn about the latest technologies that support evidence-based clinical practice.

This event brings together pediatric specialists, pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, healthcare professionals, and practitioners from various healthcare institutions to strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration in the management of critically ill patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). One of the series of activities that drew participants’ attention was the “Managing Unexpected Difficult Airway & Mastering Neonatal Procedures” workshop, which focused on improving airway management skills for neonatal patients, particularly when dealing with difficult airway conditions and complex neonatal procedures. In this session, participants used the C-MAC Video Laryngoscope Miller Blade Size 0 from Karl Storz, which is specifically designed for intubation in neonates. The combination of a high-quality video system with a blade tailored to the anatomy of the neonatal airway provides optimal real-time visualization of the larynx, thereby supporting more precise intubation, especially in high-difficulty cases. Through hands-on practice with this technology, participants gained a more comprehensive experience in developing clinical skills and improving their readiness to face various challenges in managing the airway in neonatal patients.
