
Manado Otology Endoscopic 2nd MODS Enhances Endoscopic Ear Surgery Skills Through Live Surgery

Jakarta, July 18, 2026 – Advances in endoscopic surgical technology continue to drive improvements in the quality of care in the field of otology. Minimally invasive approaches, supported by high-resolution visualization systems, enable physicians to perform procedures with increasing precision while delivering optimal clinical outcomes. To support the professional development of specialists in Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery (ENT-HNS), the 2nd MODS Manado Otology Endoscopic Course was held at Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou General Hospital in Manado, serving as a scientific forum that combined academic sessions, workshops, and live surgical demonstrations.
During this event, Advance Medicare Corpora supported the workshops and live surgeries by providing surgical technology from Karl Storz, including the 4K Camera System, OR1, and Karl Storz tympanoplasty instruments used during the procedures. This support enabled participants to gain a more comprehensive learning experience through high-quality visualization and the integration of the operating room with the learning environment.
One of the sessions that drew participants’ attention was the Tympanoplasty Workshop (WS), which focused on techniques for reconstructing the tympanic membrane. During the procedure, the surgeon used Karl Storz tympanoplasty instruments designed to facilitate precise tissue manipulation in confined surgical spaces. Meanwhile, the Karl Storz 4K Camera System provided high-resolution visualization, allowing for a clear view of the anatomical structures of the middle ear and each step of the procedure.

The educational value of this workshop was further enhanced by a live tympanoplasty surgery broadcast directly from the OR1 operating room—equipped with the Karl Storz integrated system—to the main auditorium, allowing all participants to follow the procedure in real time. The high-quality broadcast enabled participants to observe surgical techniques in detail without compromising the sterility of the operating room. Additionally, the surgeon could interact directly with participants throughout the procedure, making the discussion more dynamic and educational.
The use of the Karl Storz 4K Camera System produced clear images and sharp anatomical details, helping participants gain a more comprehensive understanding of the anatomy of the middle ear, dissection techniques, and the process of tympanic membrane reconstruction. Integration with the Karl Storz OR1 also supported a more effective learning process, as all participants could follow the procedure in real time from various perspectives.

In addition to updating participants’ knowledge of endoscopic ear surgery techniques, this event also served as a forum for the exchange of experiences among ENT-KL specialists, residents, and healthcare professionals from various institutions. Discussions held during the scientific sessions and live surgery demonstrations enriched participants’ understanding of advancements in surgical technology, case management strategies, and the application of evidence-based practices in the field of otology.
Through collaboration between the organizers and Advance Medicare Corpora, the 2nd Manado Otology Endoscopic Course (MODS) highlighted the importance of utilizing modern medical technology to support continuing education for healthcare professionals.
